Tanzania’s Communications Sector Regulator (TCRA) has released a study of cell tower radiation findings from nine different sites within the country. All reports indicate that Tanzania’s communications industry is operating well within established safety parameters, reports The Daily News.

“Through comprehensive testing procedures, TCRA ensures that communication towers adhere to safety limits, providing a safe and secure environment for communication service users,” stated Dr. Jabiri Bakari, TCRA’s Director General. “By maintaining communication infrastructure that emits radiation levels well within established safety thresholds, TCRA prioritizes the health and well-being of its citizens.” The Tanzanian government commissioned the study to help calm public fears about possible safety issues stemming from cell tower communications.

ICNIRP is the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection. The organization is recognized as an authority by the World Health Organization, according to the ICNIPR website. To see the specific guidelines set by the association, click here.

“The government continues to manage the communication infrastructure, including phone towers, radio towers, and television towers, in order to protect communication service users and residents living near the infrastructure,” the Minister for Information, Communication and Information Technology, Nape Nnauye told the News. “The measured radiation levels from communication towers have not exceeded the maximum radiation limits as directed by the ICNIRP, thus ensuring safety of communication users,” concluded the minister.
