A tower technician was rescued last week in Navasota, TX, after losing consciousness while working on a tower, possibly due to heat-related issues, according to local authorities. The unnamed climber, working at the 300 foot level, became faint and a fellow crew member called local first responders for help. Multiple agencies answered the call, reported the Montgomery County Police Reporter.

The Navasota Fire Department was one of the first to arrive at the scene at 7625 Highway 6 North around 4:30 p.m. A fire department rescuer climbed the tower to help assist in lowering the unconscious man to the ground. The Bryan Fire Department  arrived on the scene shortly thereafter and assisted in using a rope system to bring the victim down safely.

The man was taken to St. Joseph EMS for initial treatment and then flown to a local hospital by helicopter. His fellow crew member descended the tower on his own. Responding agencies included the Navasota Fire Department, Navasota Police Department, Bryan Fire Department, Bryan Fire Marshal’s Office (Drone Operations), St. Joseph EMS and PHI Air Med 12, according to the Reporter.
