UPDATE Several industry trade associations voiced their approval of President-elect Donald Trump’s choice of Olivia Trusty to fill the vacated seat of outgoing FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel.

“NATE: The Communications Infrastructure Contractors Association, congratulates Olivia Trusty on being nominated to serve on the open FCC Republican seat,” said President/CEO Todd Schlekeway. “NATE has collaborated with Olivia in her role working on wireless, telecom, and communications infrastructure policy issues on Capitol Hill. Olivia possesses extensive experience and a keen knowledge of the many policy and regulatory issues facing the industry and will be able to hit the ground running on day one on the job once confirmed.”

CTIA President and CEO Meredith Attwell Baker said Trusty’s “decades of public service, including her time on the Senate Commerce Committee, and deep knowledge of broadband issues make her an excellent candidate. We look forward to her swift confirmation by the Senate and to working together to implement policies that strengthen our leadership in wireless and ensure all Americans benefit from opportunities created by the 5G economy.”

“Through her extensive experience in both the private sector and on Capitol Hill, Olivia Trusty has a deep understanding of the broadband marketplace and the challenges of serving rural areas in particular,” said Shirley Bloomfield, CEO of NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association. “Her commitment to public service and thoughtful approach to policy issues will position her well as she joins the commission.”

David Zumwalt, President and CEO, WISPA – The Association for Broadband Without Boundaries, said, “Trusty’s broad experience in both government and the private sector, combined with her regulatory restraint, will work to foster renewed growth in the broadband sector, ultimately helping to bring more services at lower prices to U.S. consumers in urban, rural and Tribal areas of the country.”
