A report completed by the Public Works Commission in Malibu, Illinois, states that 76 applications pertaining to wireless telecommunication facilities were made over the last three years. The February 12 report noted that 54 of those applications were to make upgrades to existing structures, and 22 were for new facilities. Unlike a lot of municipalities, the Public Works Commission was simply noting the increase, not complaining about it. In fact, the city approved 66 of the applications and the other ten are still pending. City of Malibu senior planner Adrian Fernandez explained that Crown Castle has submitted 19 of the applications and Sprint has submitted more than 31 applications to upgrade or replace existing equipment.
