Vertical Supply Group (VSG), a supplier and manufacturer of life safety equipment, has acquired Yates Gear, a maker of fall protection products, technical rescue, rope access, and tactical equipment. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“Yates Gear’s expertise in fall protection aligns perfectly with our mission to provide comprehensive safety solutions to our customers. We look forward to offering the Yates brand and product line through our global VSG distribution channels and building on their success going forward,” said Jeff Morris, CEO of Vertical Supply Group.

Yates Gear started as a manufacturer of mountaineering and rock climbing equipment in 1982, specializing in technical rescue, rigging, rope access, mountain rescue and special operations. Today, it operates out of a 30,000-square-foot facility in Redding, CA, using textiles and webbing made in the U.S. John and Karen Yates, founders of Yates Gear, plan to retire after the sale is completed.

Vertical Supply Group, which offers brands such as Sterling, Notch, Rope Logic, and Silky, has completed five acquisitions in the life-safety equipment and supply industries in the past two years. VSG remains focused on acquiring new brands and distribution capabilities as well as adding new partnerships within the work-at-height and safety sector, according to the company.
