Vodafone Germany, in partnership with FlyNex, has launched DroNet Hub, a new online platform designed to assist businesses in managing their drone operations. VoIP Review reported that the system aims to streamline the planning and commercial management of drone flights.
DroNet Hub will focus on alleviating operations challenges such as:
- Securing necessary flight approvals
- Planning flight trajectories
- Ensuring network coverage for flight control
- Facilitating quick analysis of data and images captured during flights using AI
- Providing insight into connectivity and population density along flight paths
The service to connect DroNet Hub to the uncrewed aircraft without interruption is called the DroNet Connect Stream. Businesses can access 500 GB of data with the option to upgrade to 1 TB.
VoIP Review reported that although Vodafone did not specifically cite 5G as the underlying technology powering DroNet Hub, there are indications that it relies on it for operability. Vodafone has been working diligently to deploy 5G to support increased drone usage and mobile connectivity in Germany. The company has equipped 16,000 cell sites with infrastructure to support its efforts, reaching 92 percent of German households.
