UPDATE Vodafone UK, a unit of Vodafone Group Plc (NASDAQ: VOD), and Three UK, a subsidiary of CK Hutchison Holdings Limited (OTCPK: CKHUY), continued preparations for a proposed merger. They announced a leadership team for the combined entity following what was described as a robust selection process, according to Mobile World Live.
The tie-up is edging ever closer after being approved by the U.K.’s Competition and Markets Authority at the end of 2024, subject to conditions, Inside Towers reported. It’s expected to close in the first half of this year.
Current Vodafone UK CEO Max Taylor was already tapped to lead the merged entity and it has now appointed a wider team to help run the business. Eleven appointments have been named. Current Vodafone executives take eight spots, notes Mobile World Live.
These include Andrea Dona, who will continue to head up Networks; Kelly Barlow leading Strategy and Portfolio; and director of Vodafone Business Nick Gliddon running its new Business arm.
Three UK CFO Darren Purkis will take on the same role at the merged entity. Other appointments included bosses for HR, regulation, IT, operations, consumer, and compliance and risk.
