The White House released its long-awaited AI Action Plan on Wednesday with a renewed focus on easing permitting requirements to promote faster buildouts of data centers and semiconductor manufacturing plants in the United States, according to MeriTalk.

One of its primary goals is having the departments of Commerce and State work with industry to deliver “secure, full-stack AI export packages” to American “friends and allies” overseas. The White House defined “full stack” as “including hardware, models, software, applications, and standards.”

Keys to the action plan include removing federal regulations that the administration believes hinder AI, promoting the build-out of AI data centers, and exporting U.S.-made AI around the world, according to Yahoo Finance.

Execution on the action plan, the White House said, will be pushed forward by more than 90 federal government policy actions, which the Trump administration said it will “take in the coming weeks and months.”

The President’s plan calls on the FCC to evaluate whether state AI regulations interfere with the Commission’s ability to carry out any obligations or authorities under the Communications Act. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr said, “President Trump is committed to ensuring America’s global leadership in AI remains unquestioned and unchallenged. The President’s plan puts forward a series of actions that will ensure America’s AI remains the gold standard around the world. I look forward to supporting these national priorities.”

Michael Kratsios, runs the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and helped to develop the action plan. Kratsios said it “charts a decisive course to cement U.S. dominance in artificial intelligence.”
