WIA is calling for industry input in a curriculum development process at The Ohio State University (OSU) for the occupations of Small Cell Technician and Small Cell Construction Manager. Through Ohio’s Broadband and 5G Sector Partnership, WIA is working with OSU’s Center on Education and Training for Employment to design courses that prepare students to perform the duties and tasks associated with small cell deployment.
“The fact that Ohio is investing in the research and development of quality curriculum for critical broadband occupations is a big deal, and more input from our industry will improve the final product,” said WIA Executive Vice President Tim House. “I couldn’t be more excited about the potential of this program with our partner, The Ohio State University. This curriculum will be made available throughout the state to spark student interest in these careers and build the broadband workforce of the future.”
Following the completion of an initial occupational analysis of the Small Cell Technician and Construction Manager by six subject matter experts, WIA and OSU are seeking input on the analysis from a broader group of relevant subject matter experts in the wireless industry.
The first 25 respondents will receive a $50 gift card upon completion of the survey. Interested parties can sign up to take the survey at this link.
