Wireless Supply Adds Final Piece to the Public Safety Puzzle

Wireless Supply has positioned itself as a one-stop shop in the public safety DAS space with the launch of TruePath RESPONDER, an active DAS system developed in collaboration with SOLiD. As Jeff Hall, Vice President and General Manager of Wireless Supply explains, “When it comes to a public safety deployment, we now manufacture everything a customer needs, for every component of that installation.”

At the International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE), Wireless Supply introduced this flagship product. “We take a signal from the public safety system and bring it into the building. We conduct the proper filterization, put it into a fiber network, and out of one strand of fiber, we send it out to a fiber remote.” The system supports up to 32 remotes, a scale that Hall said allows for significantly large public safety deployments.”

What makes TruePath RESPONDER especially unique is its ability to operate across multiple frequency bands. Right now it’s designed for 700-800 MHz, which are the primary frequencies used in the public safety market, according to Hall. However the fiber remote that Wireless Supply has deployed in this system has the ability to handle VHF, UHF, and 900 MHz. “It can handle up to five different bands. There’s not a fiber remote on the market that does that,” according to Hall. And it’s not just hardware innovation. The partnership with SOLiD was strategic. “They had a need for public safety-focused systems. We had a need for an active DAS system. It was a natural marriage.”

Built to Code, Built to Scale

Compliance was a central design pillar from the start. “Public safety officials want everything certified to UL 2524,” Hall said, referencing the stringent standard that ensures systems deliver required alarms to a building’s fire alarm control panel. TruePath RESPONDER is currently in the final stages of securing full UL 2524 certification—power supplies, BDAs, and eventually the fiber remotes. “Every fiber remote has to have battery backup, because if the fiber remotes lose power, you don’t have a system,” he noted.

The system’s modularity and scalability make it suitable for a variety of environments, from single-building installs to complex campuses. Hall cited large retail complexes. “Most of the time, BDAs will be installed in every building. That’s not the answer because you’re going to create noise on the public safety system.” Instead, one central TruePath RESPONDER system can feed fiber remotes in adjacent buildings, minimizing interference while maximizing coverage and improving signal integrity.

This centralized approach also works well for sprawling college campuses, hospitals, and municipalities, where a central fiber network is already in place. “As long as I have one single strand of fiber, that’s all I need to each fiber remote,” said Hall. He estimated that coverage capabilities between remotes could span up to six miles between buildings, depending on the frequency bands used. That flexibility allows integrators to design smarter, more reliable systems that also reduce the total cost of ownership over time.

Training, Growth, and Industry Reception

Wireless Supply is also taking a proactive approach to training. “This is not a product you can train somebody on in an hour,” Hall acknowledged. “It’s probably going to be a half-day to a full-day training.” Initial sessions are being conducted jointly with SOLiD, and Hall said soon, Wireless Supply will manage its own training efforts, both in person and via virtual resources.

The rollout of TruePath RESPONDER was met with enthusiasm at IWCE. “The response was overwhelming,” Hall said. “We unveiled and realized, we’ve created something substantial here.” That enthusiasm has extended beyond IWCE, with key industry stakeholders like the Safer Buildings Coalition taking notice. Hall said the group is “very excited” about the product and noted that Wireless Supply is sponsoring ten of the coalition’s events this year, including in Nashville, Dallas, Sacramento, and San Diego.

“We have established real credibility in the active product business, and it is bolstered by upcoming expansions to our BDA line, including VHF and UHF units that will integrate seamlessly with the TruePath RESPONDER platform,” said Hall.

According to Hall, Wireless Supply now offers “all the pieces of the public safety puzzle.” With TruePath RESPONDER, it seems Wireless Supply is doing just that — fitting together technology, safety, compliance, and scalability into a cohesive, future-ready solution for public safety DAS deployments.

Wireless Supply will begin shipping the TruePath RESPONDER products mid-to-late summer 2025. To learn more about Wireless Supply visit https://wirelesssupply.com/
