UPDATE The Department of Justice (DoJ) approved an update to the 2020 Master Network Services Agreement between DISH Network (NASDAQ:DISH) and T-Mobile (NASDAQ:TMUS) that gives DISH retail wireless customers, including Boost Mobile, access to T-Mobile’s 5G network.

T-Mobile revealed the approval in an SEC filing, and the updated agreement is now in effect. The agreement stipulates that T-Mobile will help DISH in migrating DISH’s 3G CDMA customers to 5G handsets. In turn, DISH will pay T-Mobile “not less” than a total of $3.3 billion through January 21, 2027, Inside Towers reported.

New Street Research said in a note to clients yesterday it was surprised at the speed the DOJ took to approve the change. The company sees the approval as a positive for DISH.
