FirstNet was a topic touched on frequently at the Wells Fargo Media & Telecom Conference. American Tower’s Investor Relations Director Igor Khislavsky said they received initial applications for the mobile broadband network for first responders and asked whether the tower work would be considered amendments to current agreements or new tenants.
“In general, our high-level view is they will likely take the form of majority amendments. Our expectation is not that you’ll see a nationwide string of new co-locations,” said Khislavsky. “Our expectations are that you’ll see a good number of amendments.”
The company hasn’t disclosed how many AMT towers AT&T is a tenant on; AT&T comprises just under 29 percent of AT&T’s U.S. revenues, according to the executive.
