AT&T submitted a proposal to the Wallington Select Board in Vermont to replace the Town Hall cupola, a small dome atop the building, with a fiberglass replica to accommodate a third antenna. Currently there are two antennas in the clock tower, but this proposal for a third caught the attention of the Vermont Department of Historic Preservation as the building has historic significant. Smartlink representative said AT&T was aware of the history, and would work with local, regional, and state officials to address any concerns. James Duggan from the state Division of Historic Preservation explained the possibility that replacing slate and bricks with fiberglass could result in the Town Hall being removed from the National Register of Historic Places. At the April 6 meeting, AT&T reported that they are reconsidering their original proposal are looking at their design plans so new antennas could be installed without disturbing the cupola.
