The FCC initiated its Disaster Information Reporting System concerning the status of communications services in areas impacted by wildfires in New Mexico. Four counties are involved: Colfax, Mora, San Miguel and Santa Fe.
As of 11 a.m. on Tuesday, less than one percent of the cell sites in the affected area were out of service. Santa Fe County has the most cell sites, at 171. Of those, only one was out. It was damaged, according to DIRS.
Mora County has 41 cell sites. Two were not working due to damage and lack of power.
San Miguel County has 79 cell sites, while Colfax County has 25 sites. Neither county reported cell site outages.
No cable or wireline services reported outages in the disaster area. The same was true for television stations and AM and FM radio stations, though one FM reported transmitting from an alternate tower.
No 911 call centers reported they were impacted by the wildfires.
