Bell Canada and Honda Canada recently announced that new Honda and Acura vehicles are now equipped with built-in WiFi hotspots that enable drivers and their passengers to stay fully connected online, safely and hands-free, while on the open road.

“Like many consumers, Honda and Acura customers are looking for more convenient ways to stay connected, and our in-car WiFi Hotspot powered by Bell provides the fast and reliable mobile connections they expect,” said Dave Jamieson, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Honda Canada. “Our vehicles come fully equipped with the features and accessories you need to safely access the information you need on the go. Whether running errands or on a family road trip with all your gear, our WiFi Hotspot enables drivers to stay fully connected while ensuring passengers can enjoy all their favourite online content.”

The ConnectedCar will reportedly support browsing, streaming and sharing on up to seven compatible devices with the built-in WiFi hotspot powered by Bell’s 4G LTE wireless network. The hotspot supports real-time email and text access, enables on-the-go video streaming, gaming and web browsing for passengers, and keeps devices connected up to 50 feet away from the vehicle.

Bell said the Connected Car is the next evolution in moving the smart vehicle experience from infotainment services to autonomous driving and smart cities applications of the future. Bell Connected Car is intended for passenger use only when the vehicle is in operation and for safe, hands-free connectivity while driving.
