You may not be able to judge a book by its cover but you can tell a serious reference book by its binding. John Rowe’s soup-to-nuts treatise on wireless site acquisition and permitting impresses you with its gravity right away with two-inch spiral binding. Like a good tower site, this is a book built for long term usage.
Rowe’s “Firmly Anchored in Midair, The Handbook of Wireless Site Acquisition and Permitting,” is a comprehensive survey of the wireless site acquisition process, explaining fifteen essential job functions in seven sections with thirty-one chapters including thirty-seven pages of notes, twenty-seven pages of indexes and five appendices captured within 574 pages. And, finally, if you’re going to “write the book” on a subject, you better back up your work and cite your references, which Rowe does and then some. The last 100 pages of the book are devoted to its appendix, notes and index along with a glossary of abbreviations and acronyms worth the price of the book alone.
