Having fielded numerous calls about how to sign up for tower training for upcoming TTT 1 and TTT 2 Practical Exams, Kathy Gill, CEO of Tower Safety & Rescue in Phoenix, AZ last week released an instructional video on the subject. Gill said many turf vendors are requiring the training no later than the end of February and companies are rushing to get in compliance.

Provided by the National Wireless Safety Alliance (NWSA), Telecommunications Tower Technician 1 TTT 1 and TTT 2 has levels of testing for crew members who perform general construction activities on installation, modification, maintenance, and inspection of support structures used in telecommunications.

Two levels are defined as:

  1. NWSA Telecommunications Tower Technician 1: An individual who can safely perform tasks on telecommunication sites under direct supervision.
  2. NWSA Telecommunications Tower Technician 2: An individual who can safely perform tasks on telecommunication sites and is capable of supervision of TTT-1 technicians and trainees.

Gill said if anyone needs additional information on the certification to please review the NWSA Candidate Handbook. View her video here
