More than 500 wireless professionals from all corners of the industry, including carriers and infrastructure met this week in Anaheim, CA for the inaugural two-day Wireless West conference. The primary goal is to educate the wireless community and provide a forum where industry professionals can join together for shared learning and networking. The ambitious first effort appeared to be a homerun, attracting not only the expected guests from the West Coast but also “from New York, Florida, all over the Midwest,” said Kari Willis, who with Patti Ringo, started putting the event together 10 months ago. They were the executive producers of the event that began Wednesday, with a welcoming keynote from Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait, followed by Joseph Wolfgram, CTO of Hoag Hospital & Executive Partner at Teledating Consulting, who told the audience “healthcare lives on wireless communications… the care and healing of our loved ones, and for the safety of all patients.”
Ray Chan, Director of Technology, San Diego Padres & Petco Park, was there yesterday morning to tell attendees “The key to success is to stay ahead of the increasingly technology savvy millennial generation.”

Then, there was a breakout session billed “Smart Light Pole – Incentive or Requirement?” that featured moderator attorney Rich Busch, and panelists Omar Masry, Senior Analyst, City & County of San Francisco; Dan Schweizer, Director Government Relations, Crown Castle USA and David Witkowski, Executive Director, Wireless, Joint Venture Silicon Valley. “The Economics of Tower Leasing” featured Pat Tant, President and CEO, Solution Seven, along with leading industry names such as Clayton Funk, Managing Director, MVP Capital; Alex Gellman, CEO and Co-Founder, Vertical Bridge; Ben Little, CEO, Centerline Solutions and Allan Tantillo, National Director, Development and Siting Policy, T-Mobile.
