Not Your Grandma’s Emergency Alert

Unlike the traditional alert systems for seniors, the SOS Anywhere Band will know if you have fallen and you can’t get up at any location, not just within the confines of your home. Yahoo Finance shared the company’s new release touting the expanded capabilities for its medical alert system.

The SOS Anywhere Band is similar to an exercise tracker in that it is worn as a wristband and relies on cell signals and GPS locators to communicate with the wearer. The maker describes the band as compact, waterproof and comfortable. Power is supplied by an encased battery with a ten-year shelf life. The company says the device was designed to appeal to today’s lively, more active senior population.

“Today’s older Americans live very active lifestyles,” said SOS Anywhere President, Jaron Carter. “They want 24/7 protection everywhere they go without the need of a phone or an at-home system. The SOS Band gives them that peace of mind no matter where they are at.”

After purchasing the device, currently on sale for $97, the participant is directed to the company’s website and guided through setting up an account complete with emergency contacts. In the event that the device is triggered by a button push from the wearer, or a sudden change in elevation, an alert goes out to the emergency contacts. A $3 monthly maintenance fee keeps the member connected to SOS Anywhere.

“With seeing the industry as is and knowing some companies are taking advantage of our older population,” said Jaron. “It is time to offer a solution that is affordable and reliable for years to come.”
