The National Association of Tower Erectors (NATE) urged its members and all wireless industry companies and stakeholders to actively participate in next week’s OSHA National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction. NATE and OSHA are requesting that employers set aside time throughout this week to facilitate safety meetings and activities in order to have an open discussion with their workers about industry safety and fall prevention. The National Safety Stand-Down raises fall hazard awareness across the country in an effort to stop fall fatalities and injuries.
In addition to NATE, OSHA is partnering with key groups to assist with this effort, including the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA), OSHA approved State Plans, State consultation programs, the Center for Construction Research and Training (CPWR), the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), the National Safety Council, the National Construction Safety Executives (NCSE), the U.S. Air Force and the OSHA Training Institute (OTI) Education Centers.
Last year, thousands of worksites participated in the campaign and the Stand-Down event reached over a million workers. OSHA invites employers to dedicate themselves yet again to the safety of their most valuable resource: their workers. As part of National Safety Stand-Down week, OSHA has developed a Fall Prevention Safety Stand-Down webpage that can be accessed here. NATE is encouraging companies and workers to incorporate the following resources into their National Safety Stand-Down Activities:
