Veterans and Towers Are a Perfect Mix

Our industry has a strong and symbiotic relationship with the military and one that is growing in its intensity as the demand for energetic, gung-ho, brave, and intrepid individuals is critical to meet the needs of the wireless infrastructure business.

WIA CEO and president Jonathan Adelstein told Inside Towers the skill sets shared between veterans and tower crews make for a perfect match.

“Veterans are safety-oriented, team-focused, familiar with not just training, but moving up the ladder to supervising others in a capacity as a foreman or executive,” he said.

Adelstein cited the work being done by TIRAP and groups like Warriors4Wireless in providing opportunities for service members transitioning into civilian life. This week, WIA will be rolling out its own campaign saluting vets by focusing on member companies run by those who have served and are actively recruiting from the ranks.

With this being the beginning of National Apprenticeship Week, Adelstein said wireless industry companies are well positioned to build on letting our nation’s best and brightest get a foothold in the industry.

I would be remiss if I didn’t salute Inside Towers’ very own veteran, Phil Cook. A veteran of not only the U.S Army (having served in Viet Nam as a microwave officer, thank you, Sir) but of sales and marketing in the telecom publishing field, Phil has been with Inside Towers almost from its inception, helping establish it as the market’s leading resource for reaching the wireless infrastructure industry. Thanks Phil, for all you did and do.
