Radiografica Costarricense SA (RACSA, a Grupo ICE company) announced that it has launched 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) services in Costa Rica. According to BNAmericas, this will be the country’s first venture into 5G delivery. RACSA will operate on the 3.5 GHz band to allow FWA transmission speeds of up to 1 Gbps.

RACSA’s General Manager, Mauricio Barrantes, stated, “It is a source of pride to put the first 5G service network at the service of the country and, especially in rural areas. For 103 years, RACSA has played a social role in digitalization. It is in our DNA and it is the guide to accompany Costa Rica on the path of innovation.” The company touted its high speed and low latency delivery as a true asset for commercial and corporate clients.

“Our Corporation takes advantage of the competitive advantages of its companies,” commented Marco Acuña, president of Grupo ICE. “RACSA, as administrator of the frequency, will use it to deliver the country’s first 5G network, designed and built from scratch, to meet the high data demand needs of its customers.”
