Four counties are covered in the FCC’s Disaster Information Reporting System concerning the status of communications services in areas impacted by wildfires in New Mexico. Those counties are: Colfax, Mora, San Miguel and Santa Fe.
As of 11 a.m. on Thursday, just over 3 percent of the cell sites in the affected area were out of service. That compares to 2.5 percent on Wednesday and less than one percent on Tuesday. Out of a total of 325 cell sites in the impacted areas, 10 were non-operational on Thursday. That compares to eight on Wednesday and three on Tuesday.
San Miguel County had the most cell sites out, five — (6.3 percent) four due to data transport reasons and one had no power. Mora County had four (8 percent) cell sites not working due to damage. Santa Fe County had one damaged cell site that was not operating. All 25 cell sites in Colfax County were operating, according to DIRS.
No cable or wireline services reported outages in the disaster area. The same was true for television stations and AM and FM radio stations, though one FM reported transmitting from an alternate tower.
No 911 call centers reported as being impacted by the wildfires.
