Ohio Broadband Infrastructure Push Cited For Positive Impact on Agricultural Growth
Ohio’s broadband expansion efforts and Spectrum’s Rural Construction Initiative are reportedly bringing high-speed internet infrastructure to underserved rural areas across the state, spurring an uptick in the state’s agricultural growth, according to Farm & Dairy. Supported by state and federal funding, the initiative has expanded broadband access to dozens of counties by building new fiber transport and distribution networks. Spectrum says it has connected thousands of homes and businesses while extending service to communities that previously lacked reliable internet access.
The project is part of Ohio’s broader strategy to close the digital divide through investments in broadband infrastructure, improving connectivity for residents, businesses, agriculture and public services. Spectrum reported expanding service to 87,000 additional homes and businesses in 2025, including 36,000 in rural areas.
“High speed broadband really makes a difference, from people working in schooling to people that are running businesses like farmers and agriculture, where they have to not only be able to sell and market, but also to plan around their business,” said Jesse Femyer, area vice president for field operations in Central Ohio at Spectrum.
