Phoenix Tower International (PTI), based in Boca Raton, FL, has successfully closed two transactions for 1,978 sites strategically located in very dense urban areas across France. The transactions include the acquisition of 1,226 sites hosting mobile network operator SFR through a wholly owned PTI subsidiary, and the expansion of PTI’s Phoenix France Infrastructures 2 subsidiary with the addition of 752 sites that host cell sites for Bouygues Telecom.
The company says that these transactions mark “a crucial step” in PTI’s commitment to expand in France by supporting the French MNOs to meet ever-growing demand for reliable connectivity in densely populated regions. With these acquisitions, along with its previously announced build program, PTI will own over 3,600 sites in France and is on track to own and operate over 5,000 sites within the next two years. That tally would make PTI one of the largest independent wireless infrastructure providers in the country.
“With these transactions, PTI diversifies its portfolio across France with sites located all over the country, including major cities to better serve the populations with strong wireless connectivity,” comments Dagan Kasavana, PTI CEO. “France is one of the most dynamic telecom markets in Europe and PTI’s growth will continue facilitating coverage deployments for all French wireless operators across the country.”
With the closing of these two transactions, PTI will own and operate over 22,000 telecom towers throughout Europe, the U.S, Latin America, and the Caribbean. PTI’s European operations span France, Italy, Ireland, Malta, and Cyprus. France will be PTI’s largest market based on the number of sites across the company’s 21 global markets.
Terms of these transactions were not disclosed.
