FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr and Congressman Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) visited Precision Communications, a broadcast communications infrastructure contractor in Oklahoma last week. The Commissioner and Congressman toured the facility and gained perspective on the work involved in maintaining critical communications infrastructure. The D.C.-based duo also participated in a town hall with Precision employees to discuss workforce development issues, communications infrastructure, and the important role the communications industry plays in communities.

Participants discussed industry trends, technology advancements, and the next generation of broadcast television and 5G networks. Carr is known for his hands-on style of analyzing the wireless infrastructure industry, including climbing the towers themselves. Congressman Mullin is a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, which has jurisdiction over many of our industry’s legislative and regulatory priorities.

“We are honored to have hosted Commissioner Carr and Congressman Mullinat our facility. Most people don’t think about the infrastructure and hard-working men and women who ensure communications services, mobile devices, and television works almost seamlessly each day,” said Sean Wenger, CEO of Precision Communications. “The Commissioner and Congressman are great supporters of our industry and workers who operate at great heights and in many cases are working in harsh conditions including hurricanes and other extreme weather conditions.”

The visit was facilitated by NATE: The Communications Infrastructure Contractors Association, which works with policy makers in Congress and the Executive Branch.

“What happens in Washington, D.C. has a direct impact on our local business and industry,” Wenger said. “We are grateful these incredible leaders make a priority to meet with businesses like ours to gain valuable perspectives that will potentially impact their policy decisions. We were able to share our excitement about the next generation of TV technology that will play a key role in issues like accessibility, the rural and urban digital divide, education, and emergency response. It was wonderful to highlight Precision’s role in this space and have the support of our key leaders shaping our industry.”
