5G WorldPostponed until September 1-3, 2020

ACA Connects – Dates TBD

America’s Communications Association represents nearly 700 small and medium-sized independent operators comprised of cable, phone, and fiber-to-the-home operators and municipalities. It’s postponed its 27th annual March convention in Washington, D.C. due to the coronavirus.

The show was to have taken place March 17-19. Instead, the event will be postponed. Polka did not have a date when the summit would be rescheduled, but said ACA Connects would announce one as soon as possible.

AGL – April Event Cancelled

AGL announced the cancellation of their April 9 Summit in Atlanta. President and COO of AGL, Rick Heilbrunn, said after monitoring the state of Covid-19 the consensus was the risk to the attendees to the event was considered very low. “Nevertheless,” Heilbrunn said, “we would like to make sure we take the best action pertaining to it and maintain sensitivity to our attendees, speakers, and vendors.”

“With the government recommendations in mind, we will be postponing our Atlanta Summit, originally planned for April 9, 2020,” he said. “Before we made our final decision, we reached out to our summit partners and received important feedback. This feedback has determined our final decision to reschedule our upcoming summit.”

Heilbrunn said once they have confirmation of the exact dates for the new AGL Atlanta Summit, they will post their decision.

APCO 2020 – Cancelled

APCO Nexus – Postponed to May 18, 2021

In response to the COVID-19 virus and for the safety and welfare of everyone, APCO said its Nexus event originally slated for May 21-22, 2020, in Washington, D.C., has been rescheduled to May 18-19, 2021. The location remains the same. APCO’s Public Safety Communications Leadership in Policy Awards Dinner has been rescheduled to May 18, 2021, in the same location, the Westin Washington, D.C. City Center.

AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2020 will now take place entirely as a virtual event over the planned dates of October 5 – 8

CCA Mobile Carriers Show – Cancelled. Next show will be this Fall. 

CCA issued the following announcement, “In light of the coronavirus pandemic and additional factors outside of our control, CCA’s 2020 Mobile Carriers Show will have to be cancelled. The health and safety of our attendees is of the utmost importance, and we look forward to our show this fall.”

CommTech East Show- Rescheduled for November 24-25

CommTech West Show – Rescheduled for October 6-7

Connectivity Business Investment Conference | 2020 – Rescheduled for December 3, 2020

ConnectX – Live show replaced with Virtual Event

One of the industry’s major conferences, WIA’s Connect (X), has been cancelled…at least the live event in Miami has. In keeping with the theme of bringing the world together via wireless connectivity, the show will go on however, and be rebranded as “Connect (X): All Access. The date has been set for May 19, according to the WIA press release.

WIA President and CEO Jonathan Adelstein spoke with Inside Towers yesterday about the new format. “We want to serve the role of bringing the industry together,” Adelstein said. “This is a crucial time, and we still want to bring top industry leaders together to discuss the challenges we face, workforce development, trends in capex and more.”  Continue Reading

Datacloud Global Congress – Rescheduled for December 7-9

Digital Infra Africa 2020 – Rescheduled for November 4-6

Edge Europe 2020 – Rescheduled for June 2-4, 2020 

Edge Europe 2020 has relocated to Monaco. BroadGroup the producers of Edge Europe, due to take place in Frankfurt/Mainz on March 26, has made the decision to relocate the event to the Datacloud Global Congress, Monaco, June 2-4,2020. A statement from BroadGroup Media:

After close consultation with our customers and partners we have taken the decision to postpone Edge Europe and integrate the event into the Edge Forum day at Datacloud Global, in Monaco, June 2-4,” commented Philip Low, Chairman, BroadGroup.

“By integrating into the Edge Forum on June 2, we aim to make the transition for our audience, sponsors and speakers as smooth as possible and  deliver an event which brings together the entire ecosystem of the Edge and datacentre sector ensuring even wider exposure is given to this emerging critical market.

This decision has been taken in light of the current Covid-19 outbreak – the health of our customers, partners and team is of paramount importance and our planned approach will provide the best way for Broadgroup to serve its market at this time of unprecedented volatility.”

ITU Reschedules Key Conferences – Details Below

Given the global COVID-19 outbreak, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and its partners have decided to postpone the dates for four upcoming meetings. The World Information Society Forum was originally set for April, and will now run from August 31 to September 4. The AI for Good Global Summit was originally slated for May, and will now take place from September 21 to 25. Both events will take place at the same venue – the ITU Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

Open only to representatives of member states, sector members and to chairmen and vice-chairmen of study groups, the Telecommunication Development Advisory Group originally scheduled to be held from March 24 to 27, is postponed until June 2 to 5. Likewise, the 17th World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators Symposium, originally planned for April 15 to 17, will also be postponed and new dates will be communicated shortly. The dates and venue for the Global Symposium for Regulators (September 1 – 3) remain unchanged.

The Swiss government put into effect a ban on large-scale events which involve more than 1,000 people. The ban is slated to last until March at the earliest and the upcoming weeks are uncertain at best, according to the ITU. In response, ITU and its partners are proactively shifting event dates.

IWCE – Rescheduled for August 24-28, 2020

Iconic industry conference organizer IWCE announced the cancellation of its upcoming March 30-April 2 trade show in Las Vegas. Stephanie McCall, IWCE Show Director, said, “after close consultation with our partners in the industry, we have made the difficult decision to postpone IWCE 2020. With the rapidly developing circumstances and in light of corporate travel considerations continuing to escalate, we’ve worked as quickly as possible to explore our options. The intention is to announce a new date shortly. Exhibitors and attendees will be contacted with further information regarding booth contracts and registrations.”

IWCE 2020 will now take place on August 24-28, 2020 at the Las Vegas Convention Center (South Halls 1-2) in Las Vegas, Nevada. ETA’s Education Forum will also be rescheduled to take place at this time.

Mobile World Congress Barcelona – Event Cancelled

MWC Barcelona is an annual trade show organized by GSMA, dedicated primarily to the mobile communications industry. The event, cancelled for 2020 due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

NAB – Launching NAB Show Express (Digital) in April 2020, expanding NAB Show New York (October 16-17, 2020)

One of the largest and longest running trade industry events, the NAB Show, nearing a century of continuous service to the broadcast industry, has postponed its upcoming conference. NAB President/CEO Gordon Smith yesterday issued the following letter to attendees regarding plans for the event in light of coronavirus concerns:

“Keeping the community safe and healthy is NAB’s highest priority; therefore, we are deferring to the developing consensus from public health authorities on the challenges posed by coronavirus,” Smith said. “We are still weighing the best potential path forward, and we ask you for your patience as we do so. We are committed to exploring all possible alternatives so that we can provide a productive setting where the industry can engage with the latest technology, hear from industry thought leaders and make the game-changing connections that drive our industry forward.”

The event typically draws more than 90,000 attendees. It was planned for Saturday, April 18, through Wednesday, April 22, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
